So you've got your new LCD or Plasma TV but don't know where you should put it. Should you put it on the wall, on a flashy stand, if you put it on the wall how high should it be and what will you do with the cables?
These are all questions that you should ask yourself before finding your new TV home. Are the walls in your house constructed in a manor that will support the weight of a TV on the wall? If not you're going to need to either a) strengthen the wall or b) out your TV on a stand. Strengthening the wall can be a big task so for the sake of a TV you may just opt for the TV Stand.
Wall Mount Brackets
LCD TV stands come in a range of styles and materials that allow you to store all of your set top boxes in one place, most will come with some form of cable management system built in so you can neatly store the cables. If you have a few DVD some LCD cabinets will allow you to store them too, you really do need to make a list of what you want to keep alongside your TV.
The irony is, is that if you walls are made in such a way that they will easily support the weight of your TV is that you will then have difficulty hiding all of the cables. The wall is probably going to be made from some form of brick so channeling the cables in place is going to be difficult. It can be done though, and if you plan to stay in your home for a long time I would recommend doing this. If you're not there are now some attractive looking cable management systems around that blend in nicely with your décor.
As a rough guide the centre of your TV should be about 4ft from the ground, this is slightly above the average eye height when seated, but when you are sat on your sofa and lean back your head will naturally look up slightly.
